Privacy policy

This page explains what happens to the information you send through this website. It is written in plain language. If anything is unclear, please ask.

Who is responsible

Anna Meech, therapeutic counsellor, is the data controller for this website. You can contact her at anna.louise.therapy@gmail.com.

What is collected

Only what you type into the enquiry form. That is your name, your email address, and your message. Nothing else is gathered about you on this site.

Why it is collected

So that Anna can reply to your enquiry and, if you wish, arrange an initial consultation. Your details are not used for marketing and are never sold or shared for advertising.

Lawful basis

Your consent, given by ticking the consent box on the enquiry form. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing Anna.

How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not lead to therapy are deleted within 12 months. If you go on to become a client, your records are held in line with Anna’s clinical record keeping and BACP obligations, for 7 years after the end of therapy, after which they are securely destroyed.

Cookies and analytics

This website sets no cookies and runs no advertising or social media trackers.

Who else sees your information

The website is hosted by Netlify, and enquiry form submissions are handled by Netlify Forms (part of Netlify). Email is provided by Google (Gmail). These providers are US-based, so some of your data may be processed outside the UK under appropriate safeguards, including the providers’ standard contractual clauses. Each of these processes your information only in order to deliver that service.

Confidentiality in therapy

What you discuss in sessions is confidential. There are limited exceptions, such as a risk of serious harm to you or another person, or where the law requires disclosure. Anna also discusses her work in regular clinical supervision, where clients are not identified by name. This is standard practice and it supports safe, ethical therapy.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or object to how it is used. Email Anna and she will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with the response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
